Senate passes 527 transparency measure
The Kentucky Senate has just passed SB 148, which would require disclosure of contributions to political committees operating under Section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code.
The measure targets 527 organizations, like the Bluegrass Freedom Fund, which can raise and spend money in unlimited amounts and are not required to disclose the source of those contributions until the year after an election.
During the 2007 gubernatorial election, the Bluegrass Freedom Fund 527 raised money from race tracks and casino operators to advocate the election of Steve Beshear under the subterfuge of promoting ethics reform. Beshear actively promoted his pro-casino gambling platform during the 2007 race. The sources of the 527's contributions were only disclosed last month.
The measure passed along a party-line 23-13 vote.

So you're saying that the same bunch of arseholes who wanted Ernie Fletcher to disclose the donors to his legal defense fund, prior to him being legally required to do so, voted against this bill?
What a bunch of hypocrites! Of course what do you expect from Democrats?
