Casino industry: Beshear proposal calls for 'massive' casino gambling in Kentucky
Governor Steve Beshear announced his casino gambling proposal this afternoon. The details include the creation of 12 casinos statewide. The state's 7 racetracks get automatic licenses, and 5 other casino locations are authorized. The five non-track casinos would be authorized in the following counties:
- Christian
- Laurel or Whitley
- Boyd or Greenup
- Kenton or Campbell
- Daviess
Beshear's press release quoted him calling the plan "limited expanded gaming." Beshear has used this term to describe his plan from the time he launched his campaign for governor in 2006. However, Beshear's buddies in the casino industry - who stand to gain the most from the proposal - are calling a spade, a spade.
Casino Gambling Web, the self-described "top online casino gambling news reporting organization," is a casino industry online publication that reported on Beshear's announcement. What did Casino Gambling Web say to the casino industry that is salivating over potential gambling profits in Kentucky?

Governor Steve Beshear is rolling out the red carpet for casino gambling. He released his proposal of legislation that would allow voters to create constitutional amendments to allow limited gambling expansion.
The word limited, however, might be the wrong word to use. His plan is calling for massive gambling within the state. He has proposed that up to twelve establishments be allowed to have gambling licenses.
Now that your casino buddies have blown your cover, let's be honest with the people, Governor.

By requiring Tracks to pay $50-$100 Million for the license, "Buckaroo Bashear" has just forced several of these tracks to bid the rights to "out-of-state" interests... many who have already donated to the cause (campaign). Honestly, how can a failing horse racing industry afford those fees?

Far, far too much. Beshear has way over reached as this is more casinos than much bigger states. As somebody once said, the horse boys will muck it all up. Game over. Move on Governor or is this the only trick you got? Cauley can splain things to the boys.
