Kentucky's Scott Jennings coming home

75935731_2 Rumor has it that one of the Kentucky GOP's brightest young political talents is heading back to Kentucky after a tour of duty in the West Wing. J. Scott Jennings, of Dawson Springs, currently serves as Deputy Director of Political Affairs for President Bush. Having served as political director for Governor Fletcher's 2003 campaign and managing President Bush's critical win in the state of New Mexico in 2004, Scott's political advice has proved him indispensable to those at the highest levels of the GOP. It takes a lot to impress Karl Rove, and that's exactly what Scott did - rising through the White House to become a right-hand man to Rove.

We are told that Scott is coming home to become a principal at Peritus Public Relations. The firm boasts the likes of Senior Counsel Ted Jackson, and handles the accounts of many biggies in Kentucky.

Scott got his start, as many did, driving for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell. Glad to hear you're coming home, Scott!

What? Not gonna mention that Scott was caught up in the U.S. Attorney firing scandal?

Is that the same Ted Jackson that managed Northup? The same Ted Jackson that said Fletcher is done and this election is a mere formality?

Yes, and yes again. Fletcher is done.

Clearly an opportunity for McConnell to have Jennings managing his campaign by proxy. He couldn't have Jennings around in a public role after the U.S. attorney firings.

The US attorney firing "scandal" was much ado about nothing. Last time I checked, US attorneys serve at the pleasure of the president and, like non-merit state employees and probationary state employees, can be terminated for any reason, or no reason at all....

But Ted Jackson .... he's tainted by his lack of support for this state's first GOP governor in a generation. i'd hate to see a good man like Scott Jennings get tied up with the likes of Jackson.

The US attorney firing scandal was a Rove/Jennings attempt to (1) remove attorneys who were aggressively pursuing cases of corruption, including blatant war profiteering, cases that, for the most part, centered on wealthy Republican donors; and (2) attorneys who decided, in good conscience, not to pursue GOP/RNC-manufactured cases of "voter fraud," aimed primarily at stifling the legal efforts of groups such as ACORN in their attempts to register voters. The "study" of the so-called "voter fraud" proved to be fraudulent in itself, and the GOP has refused to release it in its original form. The party has also attempted to smear the researchers/authors of the study, probably because they couldn't produce the propaganda Rove/Jennings needed to pull off a coup.

Scott Jennings, along with Rove, is a cancer in the organism we call American democracy.
